How Counting Works
What the engine does — and what it deliberately does not claim.

| Person tracking | YOLOv8 detector + ByteTrack persistent IDs; low-confidence detections kept alive through occlusion by the tracker. |
| Scene mode | Measured camera-pan energy selects static (fixed camera) or stabilized (handheld: phase-correlation pan compensation). Fixed CCTV always runs static mode. |
| Zone entry | A directional boundary at the truck loading edge. Only trajectories crossing into the zone can count; return walks and loitering never do. One count per entry, cooldown-guarded. |
| Carried-sack check | Two independent signals on zoomed person crops: pose head-occlusion (head-carry) and the custom sack detector centered on the person (back-carry). Empty-handed crossings are rejected. |
| Camera gating | Counting pauses during camera motion with an audible fix-the-angle warning. Entries completed during instability are demoted to review — never silently counted. |
| Two-tier events | AUTO: directly observed, verified entries. REVIEW: inferred entries with photo evidence, settled by the Audit Manager. |
| Stack photos | The custom sack detector at high resolution. Counts cover visible sacks; occluded rear rows require site calibration. |
